The Bangladesh Merchant Shipping Ordinance 1983 provides the main regulations defining the conditions of maritime transport business in Bangladesh. Bangladesh Flag Vessels (Protection) Ordinance, 1982 was promulgated with a primary object to promote and encourage the growth of the local shipping industry.
